21 Years Of Hierarchism Of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel Celebrated In The Patriarchal Cathedral
On the first Sunday of the Lent, on the Orthodoxy Sunday, the Patriarch of Romanian celebrated the Divine Liturgy, assisted by a group of priests and deacons. To end with the Divine Liturgy, the 21 years of hierarchism of the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church were emphasised. His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel was ordained bishop on the Orthodoxy Sunday, on 4 March 1990, in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Timisoara, by His Eminence Nestor, Metropolitan of Olteniei, His Eminence Nicolae, Metropolitan of Banat and by His Eminence Timotei, Archbishop of Arad.
The ordination of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel as hierarch was celebrated after the Holy Synod elected him Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Timisoara, with the title "Lugojanul".
On this occasion, Rev. Archimandrite Timotei Aioanei, great ecclesiarch of the Patriarchal Cathedral underlined the importance of this moment for the Romanian Orthodox Church.
"This Orthodoxy Sunday we live a special feast for our Church, for the servants of the Patriarchal Cathedral, for the clergy and faithful of the Romanian Orthodox Church. Grateful to God, we remember that 21 years ago, on the Orthodoxy Sunday, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel received the great gift of hierarchism in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Timisoara. The rich gift of the Holy Spirit bestowed over His Beatitude at the time, as Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Timisoara, bore fruit during all these 21 years. Meanwhile, the Assistant Bishop became Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina and then Patriarch of Romania and turned out to be a brilliant theologian, a dynamic traditionalist, a visionary hierarch, a man of his time who remained a discreet modest person, who made the rich gifts of the Holy Spirit over His Beatitude bore fruit", said Rev. Archimandrite Timotei Aioanei.
Rev. Archimandrite Timotei Aioanei also offered His Beatitude a blessing cross "on behalf of the clergy and faithful who attended his Divine Liturgy".
His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church thanked God, the hierarchs present at Timisoara at the time, the clergy of the Patriarchal Cathedral and all the faithful.
"We thank God for this great holy gift He gave us for the welfare of the Church and for the joy of the faithful when the hierarch takes them to the way of salvation. We thank all the hierarchs present at the time at Timisoara, and we thank those who prayed for us at the time and the fathers of Patriarchal Cathedral, who offered us this gift. We thank all those who were present and prayed for good health and salvation", said His Beatitude.
