250 years of Cathedral church in Sremski Karlovci

On Sunday, May 22 2011, on the day when the Serbian Orthodox Church prayerfully celebrates the St. Nikolaos of Myra His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch served the Divine Liturgy in Sremski Karlovci, with the concelebration of eleven bishops who gathered at the regular May session of the Holy Assembly of Bishops, priests and deacons of the Diocese of Srem. On the occasion of the great jubilee of two and a half centuries since the construction of the Cathedral church in Sremski Karlovci, which is devoted to St. Nikolaos, and hundred years since the reconstruction of the mentioned church, after the Divine Liturgy Patriarch led the procession through streets of the seat of the Diocese of Srem.

THe celebration was attended by minister of Culture, Media and Information Society of Serbia Predrag Markovic, minister for Human and Minority rights, State Administration and Local Self Government, president of the Government of Vojvodina Bojan Pajtic and many other guests.

Regarding the jubilee in the center of the Sremski Karlovci after the Divine Liturgy there was a cultural and art program in which Biljana Krstic and "Bistrik" group performed as well as the ensemble from Novi Sad "Serboplov", the cultural and art society from Karlovci " Brankovo kolo" and the cultural and art society "Vila" from Novi Sad.
