800 years of Serbian medicine

  In the mansion of St. Prohor Pčinjski Monastery, on June 9, 2011 the Scientific meeting entitled "800 YEARS OF SERBIAN MEDICINE" was opened, organized by the Section for history of medicine of the Serbian Medical Society, the oldest medical association in our country. The aim of this meeting was to encourage a creation of the Institute for the history of medicine. 

The Serbian medical society in its agenda marked this meeting as the most important event in 2011.

At the solemn opening of the meeting, among a great number of participants, His Grace Bishop Pahomije of Vranje, also was present, who welcomed all the present and wished welcome and success in their work, and Mrs. professor Dr. Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, the president of the Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, opened this significant Scientific meeting. The academician Radoje Colovic, the president of SMS held a plenary lecture titled "800 YEARS OF SERBIAN MEDICINE".

At the end of the plenary presentation, on the first day of the Scientific meeting, Mrs. prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, worshipped the relics and anointed with myrrh of St. Prohor Pčinjski, visited the monastery complex and had a talk with His Grace Bishop Pahomije of Vranje in the Royal mansion of the Monastery.
