Academy on the occasion of seventy years of the raid of Novi Sad
The Orthodox Diocese of Backa continued prayerful marking of seventieth anniversary of Novi Sad-Sajkas Raid with appropriate academy Children of Immortality, which was held on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 19h in the Great Hall of the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad.
After the Prayer of the Lord, which was chanted by the choir of the Grammar school Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj, the attendees were addressed by His Grace Bishop Dr Irinej of Backa.
Tragic January days of 1942 were eloquently revived by a documentary Children of Immortality and an excerpt from the monodrama Festive Christmas dresses, performed by Radomir Miljojkovic.
The Academy, besides Bishop Irinej, was also attended by Bishops: Lukijan of Osek-Polje, Pahomije of Vranje, Filaret of Milesevo, David of Krusevac, Porfirije of Jegar and Andrej of Remesiana.
Many citizens of Novi Sad, descendants and friends of innocent victims in the Novi Sad raid, fulfilled to the last seat of the great hall of the Serbian National Theatre, and we believe that they will participate in even greater numbers in the commemoration which is held on the quay of victims of the raid, on 23rd January, at 12h.
