Action to remove the barricades by KFOR stopped by the mass gathering of Serbs who continue non-violent protest

The action of the KFOR, which started last night with a deployment of forces and machinery at the north of Kosovo and the first concrete steps starting from 04:00 hours, the military forces expanded by about 350 meters  the zone they control at Brnjak and removed one of the five trucks on the barricades in Jagnjenica. The tear gas or  the"pepper spray" was used on two occasions against the citizens gathered at the barricades which is why they had to seek a medical help. KFOR is concentrated on the barricades in Jagnjenica where there were  no clay or concrete embankment, while another convoy was located 300 meters from the main roadblocks in the village of Zupce.

The KFOR unit began at Jagnjenica removing the barricade which was placed a month ago on the road to Brnjak by the Serbs. KFOR citizens threatened use of force if they do not retreat and threw tear gas on several occasions. While the Serbs once again reinforce the barricades and even more come together to prevent their removal, KFOR announced a new action.  Medical teams from the north have provided assistance to the citizens due to the thrown tear gas. People, women and children are ready to remain on their position with the peaceful protest and there was not use of force on the Serbian side. President of Serbia Boris Tadic have requested this morning from KFOR and EULEX to to refrain from the use of force, and from the representatives of the Serbs on the north to decide exclusively in the interes of the citizens.
