All Soul's Day in Kosovo and Metohija

 PARISH PRIEST OF PRISTINA CALLS SERBS TO RETURN TO PRISTINA

Parish priest of Pristina Darko Marinkovic called the displaced to return to Pristina and join a group of seventy Serbs who live in that city. Parish priest said that displaced Serbs could return to their city and live in Pristina in which now with two priest's families and their children 70 Serbs live.

The parish priest added that this was just his call and a well-minded advice to the displaced Serbs. In Pristina on All Soul's Day about hundred displaced Serbs  came from Belgrade and Nis, and they were joined by Pristina Serbs.

At first they visited the restored church of St. Nicholas in which the liturgy was served by parish priests Darko Marinkovic and Stevo Mitric. After that accompanied by the police they visited the city Orthodox cemetary. 

Brother and sister Kaca and Dragan Dzudovic said that due to  shrubs and ovegrowth they were not able to reach the graves and now they were leaving cemetary  with "scratched souls and hands". They added that the displaced were ready to pay the maintenance of the cemetery, but they also needed someone to organize it.  The parish priest said that the this spring part of the cemetery was cleaned and he expected that the responsible would continue to maintain it. 

The displaced Serbs and the members of the Cirle of Serbian Sisters presented 11 icons to partly restored church of St. Nicholas which was burnt and destroyed by Albanian extremists in March 2004. The parish priest Darko showed the displaces Serbs the icon of St. Nicholas from 1871 which was found by the Orthodox Czech Patrik Kaiser in the burnt church.

ALL SOULS DAY: SERBS VISITED THE CEMETARY IN SOUTH PART OF KOSOVSKA MITROVICA

About 300 Serbs from the north part of Kosovska Mitrovica this morning on All Souls Day visited an Orthodox cemetary which is located in the south part of the city.

The Serbs came with the buses accompanied by the Kosovo police (KPS) to the cemetary in the south Mitrovica, in which about 90 percent graves are destroyed. The present Serbs said to journalists that All Souls Day was the only opportunity for them to visit with the police escort to visit the graves of their dead relatives and friends.
