Archaeologists uncovered King David-era fortress on Golan HeightsIsraeli archaeologists unveiled today a 3,000-year-old fortress on the Golan Heights that may have been built by allies of King David.

This fortress, made of basalt boulders, was discovered near the Jewish settlement of Hispin during archaeological excavations.

This is the first fortress of this period to be discovered on the Golan Heights, according to the Archaeological Service and is also “a new piece in the puzzle,” which will allow experts to decipher the relations between the Kingdom of David and one of his allies, the Geshurite Kingdom.
