Archbishop of Albania to be discharged on Monday

Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana: We need resistance to pandemicThe Archbishop’s of Albania health continues to improve. As it was announced by the Archdiocese, he will be discharged from the hospital where he was treated on Monday. He was admitted to hospital on Friday after having a heart attack. As it was officially announced, he underwent angioplasty and had two stents placed.

 

The President of the Albanian Republic, Ilir Meta, wished Archbishop Anastasios of Albania a speedy recovery. Moreover, he stated in a post: “I express my heartfelt wishes to the Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and all Albania for a speedy recovery, after having successfully undergone an angioplasty. I hope that the Archbishop will be soon able to return to his duties in order to continue his important work.”

He added, “I would also like to thank doctors and health workers for handling the situation well. I am proud of the enormous contribution of the Autocephalous Church of Albania, especially in strengthening solidarity and in fostering good relations with the country’s religious communities. They set a unique example to the world.”
