Archbishop of Thyateira to Archbishop of Athens: Pray for Me
Today, Friday, September 6, 2019, Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira had a meeting with Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece.The new Archbishop of Thyateira, Nikitas, was welcomed at the entrance of the Holy Archdiocese by the Protosyncellus, Bishop Symeon of Thespies.
He then met with Archbishop Ieronymos, who welcomed him to the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.
“I thank you for welcoming me into your office today, because I know that you have a great workload, both with the Holy Synod and with the Archdiocese”, emphasized Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira.
Archbishop Nikitas added that “I came to express my gratitude towards you and for the support of the Church of Greece”.
“The Church abroad holds the people and the Greek expatriates. We need clergymen in England to ministry in the churches for the Greeks”, the Archbishop of Thyateira underlined.
Finally, the Archbishop of Thyateira invited Ieronymos to visit Great Britain in the future, to see closely the work being done, as well as the Greeks abroad.
From his part, Archbishop Ieronymos thanked the new Archbishop of Thyateira for his ceremonial visit.
“Thank you very much for the visit and I wholeheartedly wish you a constructive ministry”, said Ieronymos.
Archbishop Ieronymos also referred to the work of the Church abroad, stressing that “I know there is a great pastoral work abroad, by the Holy Metropolis”.
In conclusion, Archbishop Ieronymos stressed: “We will always try to be close to you”.
