His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa thanked God for having the opportunity to meet with the Ecumenical Patriarch during the Bright Week, and expressed his hope that His Holiness had a fruitful visit to Poland. In turn, the Ecumenical Patriarch stressed the good relations of fellowship with Metropolitan Sawa, conveying to him wishes of good health.
According to a press release issued by the Office of the Metropolitan of Poland, the same day the two Primates of local Orthodox Churches visited the new Orthodox Cathedral of Hagia Sophia in Warsaw, the foundation stone of which was laid by Patriarch Bartholomew in 2015. Like the National Cathedral in Bucharest, the Church of Hagia Sophia in the Polish capital is dedicated to the national heroes and martyrs.
