Bishop Grigorije celebrated Liturgy in Frankfurt

The church of Resurrection of Christ, built in 1964, at the same when  the Serbian Orthodox Church Community in Frankfurt was founded, had an opportunity to welcome its Bishop, His Grace Grigorije of Frankfurt and All Germany on 7 October 2018.

Welcomed by prayer song, the Bishop began the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at 10 a.m. Many priests from the Diocese concelebrated to the Bishop. Upon the invitation of Bishop Grigorije, members of the folklore assemblies “Serbian Culture Centre”, “Kolo”, “Danube”, “Neue Isenburg” enhanced the prayer with their presence in a large number.

The Liturgy, besides a great number of faithful, was also attended by representatives of the Serbian organizations, Mr. Branko Radovanovic, General Consul of the Republic of Serbia to Frankfurt; Mr. Mitar Panic, General Consul of the Bosnia and Herzegovina to Frankfurt; Mr. DusanVidakovic, Director of the Frankfurt newspaper in Serbian “Vesti”; representatives of the Serbian associations and clubs as well as newly formed gusle association “HajdukVeljko” from Frankfurt.

Vice-President of the Church Community of Frankfurt Mr. Mladenko Zaric handed in a gift to Bishop Grigorije – a phototype edition of the Miroslav Gospel.

The Liturgy was also attended by Mr. Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel, a high politician from Frankfurt and presidential candidate of the Federal state of Hessen, accompanied by Mrs. Milkica Romic, lawyer and delegate in the City’s Assembly of Frankfurt; Mr. Mike Josef, Orthodox Sirian and a great benefactor of the church, president of the SPD party in Frankfurt and a candidate in the local elections, as well as by priests of the Ethiopian Church who during the floods in Serbia gave an unselfish contribution to collecting aid and stayed friends of the Serbs in Frankfurt.
