Bishop Joanikije on St. Demetrius Day served in the monastery of Bijela
His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic served on the feast day of St. Great-Martyr Demetrius the Myrrh-Streaming, on Thursday, the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the monastery of Bijela near Savnik. Liturgical celebration was enhanced by a promotion of hieromonk Isaiah, the heugemon of the monastery, who became archimandrite.
Bishop Joanikije in a holiday's service was concelebrated by priests and monks of the Diocese of Budimlje-Niksic: heugomen Isaiah, protosyngellos Nikifor Milovic, secretary of the diocesan management board, presbyter Milivoje Jovovic, parish priest of Zabalj, hieromonk Jefimije Skuletic, heugomen of monastery of Piva and hierodeacon Antonije, brother of the monastery of Djurdjevi Stupovi.
Bishop Joanikije held a sermon regarding St. Great-Martyr Demetrius addressing the faithful who came to the prayerful gathering from nearby villages of Savnik, but also from Belgrade, Kotor, Podgorica, Niksic and other places.
There are many miracles of St. Demetrius the Myrrh-Streaming, the protector of the city of Thessaloniki, the Bishop tells. The city of Thessaloniki has been saved for many times thanks to prayers to Great-Martyr Demetrius, and he helps all Christians, so he is not worshipped only by the Orthodox peoples, but also by the Catholics, because he is the martyr of Christ from the time of the undivided Church.
