Bishop Jovan (Puric) of Nis introduced to the throne of the bishops of Nis
Constantine's city - Nis got today a new Bishop. At the Divine Liturgy which was served by His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch Bishop Dr Jovan (Puric) was enthroned. Serbian Patriarch was concelebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral, Their Graces Bishops: Lavrentije of Sabac, Pahomije of Vranje, retired Atanasije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina, Jovan of Sumadija, Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic, Marko of Bitolj, Milutin of Valjevo, Teodosije of Raska-Prizren, David of Krusevac, Vicar Bishops: Porfirije of Jegar and Antonije of Moravica. The Divine Liturgy was attended by Their Graces Bishops: Vasilije of Srem, Hrizostom of Zica, Irinej of Backa, Justin of Vranje and Ignatije of Branicevo, representatives of the city authorities of Nis and the Republic of Serbia, and faithful people from Diocese of Nis and all Dioceses in Serbia, Montenegro and the Republic of Srpska.
Before the act of the enthronment the decision of the Holy Assembly of Bishops from June 16, 2011 on the election of Vicar Bishop Jovan (Puric) of Dioclea for Bishop of Nis was read. His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch addressed the church community of Nis and all the faithful of the Diocese of Nis and said on this occasion, that today was a great day for this diocese where he had ruled for several decades, but that today was the great day also for the Serbian Orthodox Church and all Orthodox Church of Christ, because one more Bishop was elected. His Holiness pointed out that the Diocese of Nis was connected to beginnings of the spread of Christianity and that apostolic disciples consolidated it and also preached in it, hence from the earliest times in the city of St. Emperor Constantine bishop has been sitting and doing evangelic mission. Then the Patriarch spoke to Bishop Jovan regarding his enthronment and holy mission.
His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch gave a sceptre to His Grace Bishop Jovan of Nis and wished him a long life and work in love, and especially to administer in goodwill the Church of the city of Nis. Then the Bishop Jovan of Nis deliver a speech.
