Bishop Maxim visited Eugene and Portland
The past weekend of 14th and 15th January 2017 in Oregon was very blessed because our Diocesan Bishop His Grace Bishop Maxim visited his flock in Eugene and Portland. Unusual weather conditions coated Portland in Snow and Ice.
On Saturday his Grace Bishop Maxim served the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in Eugene together with the concelebrants, Protopresbyter David Lubliner, Presbyter and Episcopal Dean Vidoslav Vujasin from PortlandParish, with Deacon Rev. Stephen Dyer . The St. John the Wonderworker Church was filled with a lot of children and faithful from Eugene.
The sermon based on the Gospel reading was given by His Grace Bishop Maxim. The New year prayers were held during the Liturgy. After the service Bishop Maxim greeted the children and let his famous Candy rain fall.
In the evening hours Bishop Maxim arrived in Portland and prayed together with the faithful in Portland during the Vesper served by the host priest, Fr. Vidoslav Vujasin.
On Sunday morning Bishop Maxim led the Holy Episcopal Liturgy. Concelebrants were Fr. John Mancantelli, Fr. David Lubliner, Fr. Vidoslav the host priest, and Deacon Steven Dyer.
The sermon was given by His Grace who explained the mystery of the Theophany - The Appearance of God in the world.
After the Liturgy there was a short performance with the lovely children from the Portland parish who sang two Christmas songs for the Bishop and all guests followed by a joyous Kolo dance. During the lunch which was excellent prepared by the Kums Sinisa and Milena Zelen and the KSS one of the parish children Tara Milivojevic played on the violin Beethovens Ode to joy. Kums for the next year Slava will be the Djurdjevic Family!
We are grateful for these many blessings and hope to grow spiritual under the guidance of His Grace Bishop Maxim, who is always very welcome in our Portland parish.
