Celebration of the Great Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Kesengei, Kenya

The Great Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos was celebrated solemnly in the homonymous temple in Kesengei, Nandi, Kenya.

During the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Makarios of Nairobi ordained a deacon and a priest, who received the name Simeon and Ephraim respectively.

The Metropolitan conveyed the wishes of Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa Theodore II.

He spoke of the importance of the Feast of the Dormition and highlighted the role of the Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary.

He stressed, in particular, the contribution of Orthodox women in Africa who, under adverse conditions, support and work tirelessly to promote Orthodox faith with their hard work, love and dedication.
