Celebration of Patronal Feast of the Patriarchal Church
The holiday of Holy Simenon The Myrrh-gusher, the founder ofthe Serbian Church and the State and the worshipper for all the Serbian people before the Creator, was celebrated this morning with Holy Hierarchal Liturgy, which upon the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia was served by Their Graces Bishop Lavrentije of Sabac and Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno.
Their Graces Bishops offered prayers of gratitude to the Lord, with a concelebration of many priests and deacons of the Archdiocese Belgrade and Karlovci, and in presence of all the employees at the Serbian Patriarchate and pious faithful people, and with penitential voice they asked St. Sava, St. Simeon and all Serbian Saints for a representation before Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Undivided Trinity.
In the hearts of the present during the Liturgy this morning at the Patriarchate church, in which His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia has been serving, a praying presence and a spiritual strength of the Serbian First Hierarch was felt.
At the end of Holy Hierarchal Liturgy, Their Graces Bishop Lavrentije and Bishop Atanasije along with priests and the faithful people cut slava cakes which were presented in favor and honor of St. Simenon by the officiating priests of the church of the Serbian Patriarchate led by protodeacon Stevan Rapajic.
His Grace Bishop Lavrentije while giving a speech pointed out that Serbian State was founded by the saints which along with the State also founded the Serbian Church, and also teach baptized unlearned people in evangelistic manner how to endure on a narrow way to Heavenly Kingdom. At the end of the speech His Grace Bishop Lavrentije congratulated to His Grace Bishop Atanasije the patronal feast of the Patriarchate church and thanked him for paid honor to preside over the Holy Service.
His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, vicar of His Holiness has thanked, on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia and His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije , to His Grace Bishop Lavrentije of Sabac for his service of the Holy Liturgy at the Church of the Serbian Patriarchate. His Grace Bishop Atansije emphasized that St. Simeon and St. Sava gathered the Serbian people in one state and that these days with intercession prayers they also protect their holy deed.
