Celebration of St. Elijah's Day in Diocese of Backa

Kolut - On the feast day of St. Prophet Elijah, in the village of Kolut near Sombor, His Grace Bishop Dr Porfirije of Jegar consecrated the land where a church of St. Prophet Elijah. After the act of consecration, Bishop Porfirije cut the slava cake and held a nice sermon.

Many priests, choirs of St. George's church in Sombor Sts. Emperor Constantine and Empress Helen and the Child Choir, as well as a great number of faithful people from Kolut and nearby places.

All this event was helped by representatives of the local community of Kolut, as well as representatives of the Construction board for building of the church, presided by Mr. Mile Ilic from Kolut.

Novi Sad – The tenth anniversary  of St. Elijah's assembly at Klisa started with the Divine Liturgy in the church of Ascension of the Lord, on Tuesday August 2, 2011 which was served by protopresbyter Slavko Cirin. The celebration was continued in the evening hours, when the slava cake and wheat were blessed.

Pachir - At the Orthodox cemetary in Pachir a feast day of the side chapel was celebrated. This chapel, the endowment of the Racic family, was raised in 1908, and then renovated after the fire in 1978. The Holy Liturgy was served by Aleksandar Ignjatovk, the parish priest of Kac, with the concelebration of the local parish priest presbyter Ilija Andjelic.

Palic - Holiday's vesper service in the church of St. Elijah in Palic was served by  hierarchal deputy of Subotica presbyter Miodrag Sipka, with the concelebration of protopresbyter-staurophor Simeon Djukic and presbyter Ilija Andjelic, the parish priest of Pachir. 

Mladenovo - The vesper service on the Eve of the feast day was served by presbyter Branislav Spasojev, local parish priest. The Holy Liturgy was served by protonamesnik Milan Uzurov, the parish priest of Backa Palanka with the concelebration of presbyter Branislava Spasojeva. t

Celarevo - Townsmen of Celarevo celebrated its Patron, Saint Prophet Elijah.

The solemn slava's vesper service was served by the head of the Theotokos's monastery Bodjani, hieromonk Panaret.

Backa Topola  - This year's Patron Saint's Day of the church in Backa Topola was prayerfully celebrated. The holiday vesper service and the Holy Liturgy was served by presbyter Srbislav A. Stojanov, temporary parish priest of Backa Topola. 

The prayerful celebration was attended by academician Dr Dimitrije Stefanovic, secretary general of the Serbian Academy of Sciencies and Art, representatives of the Roman Catholic Church, army, police and other state institutions.
