Celebration of St Paraskeva on Chukarica

Today has been formally celebrated a feast day dedicated to  Venerable Mother Paraskeva the Serbian with a Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the church on Chukarica, which is devoted to this great Christian ascetic. The Holy Liturgy was served by His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral with the concelebration of fifteen priests and seven deacons.

During the Holy Liturgy, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia, Metropolitan Amfilohije ordained Jovan Lucic a presbyter, the previous deacon of this holy church. A great deal of faithful people gathered at the Holy Liturgy to celebrate in prayers Saint Paraskeva, our patroness and prayer before the Lord.

After he read a pericope from the Holy Gospel, His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije made a speech during which he recited a hagiography on one of the greatest missionary of the Christian faith. This Paraskeva Serbian people usually calls St Paraskeva, and in Serbian coastal areas Paraskeva of Belgrade, because her relics were laid in Belgrade, of Trnovo because her relics were laid in Trnovo, as well as in Constantinople, Krushevac and Smederevo, and today they lay in Iasi, Romania.
