In Cetinje Monastery Memorial Service Celebrated to Victims of Holodomor

The first day of December is the day when Ukranians remember the victims of Holodomor. On the occasion of  this event, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in Cetinje monastery as well as the memorial service for the victims. His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije celebrated the Liturgy in the presence of diplomatic representatives of Ukrain and Russia in Montenegro. 

This great  famine that affected the USSR in the 1930s took several millions of victims, and in Montenegro today is completely unknown.  Holodomor is a term for the great famine of the population on the territory of the Ukranian SSR between 1932 and 1933 when hunger hit many regions in the Soviet Union.
