Christmas celebration in Decani monastery

Joyful feast day of the Nativity of the Lord Jesus Christ was solemnly celebrated in Decani monastery. On Christmas Eve, following the vesper service and  Christmas songs  the badnjak (Yule log) was brought and then a dinner was served. Inthe  early morning, there was a morning service followed by the Divine Liturgy which was celebrated by Archimandrite Sava, the abbot of the monastery. 

Commanders of Italian and Slovenian KFOR were present at the Liturgy as well as 60 foreign guests. Because of threats of demonstrations and media campaign against the monastery, few believers came to the Liturgy. This situation is bad for the security of this shrine which is on the UNESCO cultural heritage list.
