Communique about the false letter on the autonomy of Vojvodina
Regarding the information that one of the deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, on the session held in the afternoon on November 25, 2009, read my alleged letter regarding the proposal of the Statute of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, I can only make a statement that it is a clear forgery, which is a felony.
Namely, neither on behalf of the Holy Synod of Bishops nor on behalf of me I did not comment on the theme that is being just discussed by the Assembly.
Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church has confidence in the maturity and responsibility of the deputies, who are obliged to care about the integrity and the unity of the country. If it would, God forbid, turn out that this is not the case, in which I certainly do not believe, democratic mechanisms would be available for the Holy Synod to state its position and for an adequate appeal.
However, personally I believe that the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia represents the framework and the measure of the autonomy of Vojvodina. I am confident that the vast majority of believers of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Serbian citizens in general have the same opinion.
