The Serbian Orthodox Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro consecrated a corner-stone of a church dedicated  to the Holy Trinity in Resistencia in Argentina.

On Saturday, 16 December 2017, on the feast-day of Holy Prophet Sophronius and Saint John the Silent, His Eminence Amfilohije, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral and His Grace Bishop Kiril of Dioclea celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy with the concelebration of Revd. parish priest Marko Obradovic from Brazil and protodeacon Vladimir Jaramaz, in Resistencia, a place where the church of the Holy Trinity will be built for spiritual  needs of all Orthodox people of this town and the province of Chaco.

The plot of land for the church was received as a gift thanks to Mr. Jorge (Djordje) Kapetanic, the mayor, former Prime Minister of Argentina, whose origins trace from Banjani, Montenegro. The designer of the church is Mr. Alessandro Roganovic, the successful architect and contractor from the province of Chaco, a descendant of the famous Metropolitan of Montenegro Ilarion Roganovic.

After the Liturgy, a consecration of the corner-stone for the future church of the Holy Trinity whereupon Metropolitan Amfilohije awarded Mayor Jorge Kapetanic with the Diocesan order emphasizing that he was the mayor that would be memorized among his compatriots and blessed by the Lord for the benevolent deed he had done and had given as a gift the location for the church of God that would be in the centre of Resistencia, the city where almost half of a million of people live.

Mayor Kapetanic expressed his deep gratitude to the Metropolitan for the award and pointed out that he was very happy that the Orthodox church would be erected during his administration of the city and informed that the construction of the church would be added to the plan and program of the celebration of the 140th anniversary of foundation of the city of Resistencia.
