Constitutional session of diocesan bodies of the Diocese of Austria-Switzerland held in Vienna

According to  the decision of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church from the regular session, held in Belgrade last year, among others, the Diocese of Middle Europe was also reorganized. 

For the administrator of the newly founded Diocese of Austria-Switzerland, with the seat in Vienna, His Grace Bishop Dr Irinej of Backa was elected, who marked on Monday, June 18, 2012 with the Invocation of the Holy Spirit, in Vienna's church of St. Sava, a beginning of a new period in the history of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Austria, Switzerland and Italy. 

After the invocation of the Holy Spirit, in an assembly room of the church a constitutional session of the most important diocesan bodies was held, presided by His Grace Bishop Dr Irinej of Backa, the administrator of the Diocese of Austria-Switzerland. 

Members and their deputies were elected for the Diocesan governing council, Diocesan steering committee and the Diocesan church court.

About this historical event for the Diocese of Austria-Switzerland, Bishop Irinej left a record in the Holy Gospel, in which before, Saint Bishop Nikolaj of Serbia while he was in Vienna personally wrote three beautiful prayers.

Upon the suggestion of the Bishop, Dr Mihajlo Popovic was elected vice president and protodean Vladan Simic was elected acting secretary of the DSC.
