Crime on Terazije

Today is marked the 70th anniversary since the crime which was committed by the German occupation authorities on August 17, 1941 in Terazije.

The period of the Second World War in Serbia was marked with mass crimes against the civilians, among which there was also hanging of five Serbian patriots in the centre of the capital, on Terazije.

They are accused of resisting the occupying forces and they were killed in the courtyard of the building of the German Gestapo, and their lifeless bodies were left  , as a sign of threat, for days hanging on street lighting poles.

On charges of alleged terrorist activities then were executed: student Milorad Pokrajac , tailor worker Jovan Jankovic, shoemaker Svetislav Milina, a farmer from the vicinity of Sopot  Velimir Jovanovic and a fighter from the Kosmaj partisan unit , also a farmer, Ratko Jevic.
