Descendants of Dr. David Albal received by Patriarch Irinej

His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej received descendants of Dr. David Albal (1886-1942), who served as a Special Delegate of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in Washington from1939 to1942. The reception took place at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on April 13, 2019.

The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, i.e. Ambassador Ljiljana Nikšić. In addition to the descendants of Dr. David Albal: Prof. Rose Stevenson and Prof. Dr. John Stevenson, the meeting was attended by Dr. Ivana Lučić, a descendant of the Military Commander Stepa Stepanović, Dr. Ljiljana Nikšić from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Head of the Cabinet of His Holiness, Dean Dr. Aleksandar Praščević and Zoran Nedeljković, Ph.D., Head of the Library of the Serbian Patriarchate.

During the reception the merits of Dr. David Albal were memorized: he took part in the Balkan Wars and the First World War, where he was doctor of the Serbian Army, and was wounded during the fighting. The Patriarch pointed out Dr. Albal’s diplomatic activity and his achievements in that area, especially in the period before the Second World War, when he and Royal Prince Pavle Karageorgevich were making efforts to strengthen the Army of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
