Diocesan Day 2015
On Sunday, August 9th, faithful Serbian communities from across the eastern United States gathered at Saint Sava Camp in Shadeland, Pennsylvania.
The day began with Holy Hierarchal Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Grace Bishop Dr Mitrophan of the Eastern American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church, along with twenty-four priests and one deacon. A further three priests assisted during the service, and the congregation, led by St Sava campers, sang all responses.
During Divine Liturgy, His Grace offered an inspirational sermon on the healing that takes place within the Holy Church. His Grace proclaimed that the medicine we receive from the Church, through the Sacraments, is the only medicine in which you cannot find a negative side-effect. Furthermore, His Grace expressed his joy at communing so many faithful Orthodox Christians during the service. He encouraged them to take that practice of receiving Holy Communion into their parish, as a regular part of their lives since we are called to be Christians everyday.
Following Divine Liturgy a music and dance performance was offered in the pavilion. During the previous, last week of camp, many talented campers worked for hours to develop an inspiring and beautiful show, including a vocal and instrumental performance along with dance. For the hundreds in attendance, it was a beautiful day of unity and celebration for the Eastern Diocese.
