Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God in Pirot

The Feast Day's Vigil in Sukovo Monastery. The Patron Saint-Day of Pirot

The great feast day of the Orthodox Church when the Dormition of the Most Holy MOther of God is marked, was solemnly celebrated in the Diocese of Nis. The most solemn celebration was in Pirot where Bishop Arsenije of Nis served the feast day' Vigil, and the next day, on the occasion of the city patron's day, also the Holy Liturgy in Pirot was celebrated.

In the monastery of Sukovo service was performed on the Eve of the feast day.

On 28 August 2019, on the feast day of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God His Grace Bishop Arsenije of Nis celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in Pirot's Cathedral church where the church and city slava were marked.

From the church a solem procession went through the main streets of Pirot until the center of the town and the Town Hall where was a rite of breaking the slava cake. The present were greeted by His Grace Bishop Arsenije of Nis and Mayor of Pirot Mr. Vladan Vasic.
