On Sunday December 15th His Grace Bishop Maxim served Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in Irvine, Orange County.

With great joy, the faithful of this Parish welcomed their Bishop.  Once again, through serving Divine Liturgy and his beautiful sermon, he leads us towards the Kingdom of Heaven with his constant Archpastoral love  and care.

After the reading of Holy Gospel, Bishop Maxim’s sermon taught his faithful how to deal with the wealth and riches of this world in a Christian and salvific way: with constant gratitude to God, with constant charitable works, and with a constant remembrance that everything Worldly is temporal and passing.  We see this message in the words of St. Luke who said: … “a treasure in heavens that does not fail, where no chief approaches nor moth destroys.”

At the end of Divine Liturgy, the Bishop blessed the Bread (Slavski kolach) and wheat (zhito) prepared by Fr. Blasko and his family in honor of their Slava, St. Nicholas.

His Grace Bishop Maxim congratulated Fr. Blasko and his family for their Slava in advance and expressed his best wishes to all the parishioners for the forthcoming feast of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ and the New Year.

Fr. Blasko thanked His Grace Bishop Maxim for serving Divine Liturgy and for his best wishes to his family and the entire Community of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos on the occasion of his family’s Slava celebration.

The celebration was crowned with the Slava banquet in the Church hall with His Grace Bishop Maxim and all the guest in attendance.
