The feast-day of St. Sava celebrated in Novi Sad

The Eucharistic gathering was presided over by His Grace Irinej, Bishop of Novi Sad and Bachka, with the concelebration of Bishop Jovan (Puric) and brotherhood of the Cathedral church.

In his sermon Bishop Irinej pointed out that St. Sava preferred love to Christ to anything else, and multiplied the gifts of the Holy Spirit he was entrusted with while serving to the Lord Jesus Christ. We celebrate him as a saint of the Church of Christ, as a sincere servant of God, being permanently a man of prayer and endeavor, respected as a saint even during his life-time. St. Apostle Paul testified to the true High Priest, and every Bishop should be such – a servant of Christ’s Church, being ready to lay even his life for his spiritual flock. Such a High Priest is St. Sava, said Bishop Dr. Irinej (Bulovic).

After the pre-ambo prayer His Grace Bishop Jovan (Puric) blessed the St. patron’s cake and wheat, an offering Mr Boban Medenica and his family.

Following the Liturgy the youngest attendants of the Catechism (Religious Instructions) organized a cultural-religious programme.
