The First Orthodox Grammar School in Bosnia and Herzegovina
On 13 January 2017, in a hall of the Saint Sava Parish House in Srpska Varos in town Brcko, Republic of Srpska, there was held a meeting of Bishop Fotije of Zvornik-Tuzla with representatives of the Brcko District authorities, headed by Mayor Mr. Sinisa Milic, as well as with representatives of educational and other institutions of the District.
Two topics were discussed: first – establishing of an Orthodox Grammar school in Brcko, and the second one– considering a projectof the internal design of the Cultural and Administrative Centre of the Serbian Orthodox Church-School Community of Brcko. The meeting was opened by protopresbyter-staurophor Nebojsa Draskic, principal of the Cathedral church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God in Brcko, who reported on the projects and phases they might be implemented.
The greatest attention was devoted to the establishment of an Orthodox Grammar school in Brcko. His Grace Bishop stressed significance of this project for the Serbian Orthodox Church and suggested to all the present dignitaries to express their opinion about this topic. After a longer discussion, a decision was unanimously made to begin with the realization of the establishment of the Orthodox Grammar school in Brcko. The foundation of the Grammar school must be thorougly planned, and the deadline for its establishment is September 2018 and not later than 2019. The Grammar school will bera the name of Saint Sava.
