Formal reception of cadets at Patriarchate court

His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral, locum tenens of the Patriarchate throne, and His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno arranged on December 25, 2009 at Patriarchate throne a formal reception of cadets and senior officers of the Mllitary Academy, led by their head Brigadier General Dr. Mladen Vuruna.

At first, future officers visited the Museum of Serbian Orthodox Church in which they had the opportunity to refresh their knowledge of various periods of the history of our people. They saw various charters of our rulers, cloaks, icons, pieces of interior chambers of the old Orthodox churches.

The guests from the Military Academy learned from Metropolitan Amfilohije about the rich and long history of the Serbian Church and its people. He expressed a great satisfaction and joy over the visit of the current and future Serbian officers.

General Mladen Vuruna thanked Metropolitan and Bishop Atanasije  for the great contribution that the Church had provided in the process of reforming and modernizing the overall educational process in the Army. He also thanked for the respected place and the role that members of the Military Academy had in the funeral of the Patriarch Pavle of blessed repose.

On behalf of the cadets of the Military Academy , Ilija Smiljanic, President of the Parliament of cadets, presented Metropolitan Amfilohije with the plaque - the state emblem of the Republic of Serbia. His colleagues presented Bishop Atanas with the state flag with a dedication, and the priest John Babic with an honourable mention, made on the leather surface. Metropolitan Amfilohije gave General and the superior officers a plaque - the emblem of the Serbian Church, and all others received from Metropolitan copies of the photo album from the funeral of Patriarch Pavle.

Then the distinguished guests visited the hall where the meetings of the Assembly of Bishops are held, and the Chapel of St. Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher.
