The Orthodox Church of Cyprus commemorated the Fortieth Anniversary of the late lamented Archbishop Makarios III (13th of August 11913 to 3rd of August 1977) on the 3rd of August 2017. Archbishop Makarios III was the first President of Cyprus. The commemorative Liturgical celebrations were held at Kykkos Monastery.

Celebrations were attended by His Beatitude Chrysostmos II – Archbishop of Cyprus, Holy Synod members, parliamentarians, government officials and thousands of faithful.
