Funeral rite and burial of the Bishop Jeronim of Jegar
Monastery of Holy Archangels in Kovilj was a place of a gathering of bishops, priests and monks, not only of the Serbian Orthodox Church but also from other local Orthodox Churches, relatives, friends, admirers of Bishop Jeronim of Jegar, as well as of the faithful people from all parts of Backa (photo gallery).
His Beatitude Archbishop of Ohrid and Metropolitan of Skopje Jovan officiated the Holy Funeral Liturgy with the concelebration of Metropolitans Kirill of Eritrea and Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana and seventeen bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
The funeral was attended by Director of the Bureau for Cooperation with the Churches and Religious Communities Dr. Mileta Radojevic, His Excellency Luciano Suriani, Apostolic Nuntio to Serbia, His Eminence Archbishop of Belgrade Stanislav Hocevar, fra Leopold Rohmes, Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community of Serbia Sead Nasufovic, mufti of Vojvodina Muhamed Zilkic, as well as by many other representatives of the religious, cultural and public life.
After the funeral rite and procession around the church of Holy Archangel Michael, the body of Bishop Jeronim was buried with love and respect at the cemetery of the monastery.
