General Breedlove visits Monasteries of Pec Patriarchate and Decani
Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) General Phil Breedlove, accompanied by KFOR Commander General Volker Halblauer and representatives of Italian and American KFOR, visited the Pec Patriarchate and the Decani Monastery on 7 August 2013.
At the monastery of the Pec Patriarchate General Breedlove was welcomed by Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren, with the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch. Bishop Teodosije as a diocesan bishop and the member of the Holy Synod of Bishops, informed the American general with problems that our Church faces and emphasized a need that the KFOR forces remain in the region as long as possible and to provide security for the Serbian shrines and the people in the enclaves.
Following the visit to the Pec Patriarchate, Supreme Allied Commander Europe with associates also visited the Decani Monastery where he was welcomed by Archimandrite Sava, abbot of the Monastery, with whom he had talks.
KFOR troops still secure the Decani monastery, while the protection of the Pec Patriarchate is now under a regime of the coordinated protection of KFOR and the Kosovo police.
