Good Friday at Cathedral Church of Holy Archangel Michael
His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Kyr Irinej on Great and Holy Friday, served the Vesper service at Belgrade's Cathedral Church of St. Archangel Michael. According to the tradition, during the Vesper service the Shroud is being carried out and placed in the middle of the church. It remains there until the Resurrectional services for the faithful to venerate. The Shroud represents the Tomb of Christ, thus the services and customs during these Great and Holy days are filled with emotions and symbols.
The Vesper service was followed by the Lamentations of the Mother of God over the Tomb of her Son, and latter on the traditional requiem service was served before the Shroud. The clergy and the faithful at the Cathedral church had the joy and blessing to have His Holiness in their midst to lead these uplifting services.
