Great celebrations of the Serbian Church in Buenos Aires
The Hierarchal LIturgy was celebrated by Metropolitan Jacob of Buenos Aires and All Argentina of the Patriarchate of Antioch, Metropolitan Ignatious of Argentina and South America of the Moscow Patriarchate, Bishop John of Caracas and South America of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad and the host of the gathering, Bishop Kirilo of Buenos Aires and Central-South America (phоto gallery).
On Saturday, 21 September 2019, on the great feast day of the Church of Christ - the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God, in the cathedral church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God in Buenos Aires a great event was organized on the occasion of the celebration of the great jubilee - the 800th anniversary of the proclamation of the autocephally of the Serbian Church, as well as the church Patron's Saint-day and the proclamation of the church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God as the place of the cultural significance for the city of Buenos Aires by the City Assembly of Buenos Aires.
The church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of god is a true copy of the King's church which was built in Studenica Monastery by Holy King Milutin. It is the only church of Serbian Byzantine style in Argentina and South America. On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church the City Assembly of Buenos Aires declared the church as a place of cultural significance for the city.
On the occasion of this great jubilee, His Grace Bishop Kirilo of Buenos AIres and South-Central South America of the Serbian Patriarchate invited hierarchs from the Local Orthodox Churches to participate in this great event: His Eminence Metropolitan Jacob of Buenos Aires and All Argentina (Patriarchate of Antioch), His Eminence Metropolitan Ignatious of Argentina and South America (Moscow Patriarchate) and His Grace Bishop John of Caracas and South America (ROCOR) to serve the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy. Metropolitan Jacob celebrated the Liturgy with the concelebration of mentioned hierarchs.
Bishop Kirilo invited also city member of Assembly Mr. Eduardo Santamarina and his associates members of the Assembly Mr. Omar Ahmed Abud and Mr. Yian Ping Yuan, who particiapted in the process of the declaration of the Cathedral church as the place of the cultural significance for the city. He invited also Serban Ambassador to Argentina Mrs. Jela Bacovic.
The event was attended by representatives of the Embasy of Romania, mayor of Arias in the province of Cordiba Mr. Matias Gvozdenovic, parishioners from Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Comodoro Rivadavia and far province of Chacom, as well as 120 believers.
As a sign of gratitude Bishop Kirilo presented an icon of Mother of God to Mr. Santamarina. At the end of the holy service of God, in front of the church a memoral plaque was uncovered and blessed. After that there was a solemn lunch and cultural program.
