Half century of Hierarchal Ministry of Bishop Lavrentije marked
The festivity began with a Vigil and a solemn academy. Promotion of a monograph “Lavrentije – the feast day of silent light”. The exhibition about life and works of the celebrant.
The bells of the Cathedral church in Sabac on 29 July 2017 marked exactly at 17.30 arrival of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch. The First Hierarch of the Serbian Church arrived at the Cathedral church of the Diocese of Sabac followed by the host, Bishops Lavrentije of Sabac and Milutin of Valjevo, Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities Mileta Radojevic, PhD; Bishop’s deputy protopresbyter-stavrophor Mirko Vilotic, Director of the Administration Office of the Serbian Patriarchate protopresbyter-staurophor StojadinPavlovic and many other ecclesial and secular personalities.
At 8 p.m. a solemn academy began at the newly built amphitheater of the courtyard of the Sabac Cathedral church, that has 800 seats. At the academy, the drama section of primary and secondary schools of Sabac performed a play “Telegram” dealing with life of His Grace Bishop Lavrentije.
During the celebration of the 50th anniversary of service of Bishop Lavrentije, a monograph Lavrentije – the feast day of silent light was presented.
His Holiness opened an exhibition of photographs on life of His Grace Bishop Lavrentije at the Culture Pavilion in the courtyard. The author of this exhibition is historian and curator of the National Museum in Sabac BrankoStankovic..
