Heads of Alexandrian, Russian, Bulgarian and Cypriot Orthodox Church send letters of support to Serbian Orthodox Church regarding the newest suffering of Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija

The  heads of Alexandrian, Russian, Bulgarian and Cypriot Orthodox Church send letters of their support to Serbian Orthodox Church regarding the newest suffering of Serbian Orthodox people in Kosovo and Metohija.

Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Theodor II says that " with a watchful interest and an unanimity of the heart we monitor developments in the areas of the canonical jurisdiction of Your Patriarchate's throne, in Kosovo and Metohija, where extremist elements desecrate within an unhonourable battle for the secession of Kosovo, the  the wider area of the cradle of the Serbian people, of the state of Serbia.''

''Regarding that we express our the wholeheartedly support to Your Holiness, the Holy Synod of Bishops and the fullness of the Serbian Orthodox Church.'', said His Holiness Patriarch Theodor II in the letter.

In his letter to Serbian Patriarch His Holiness Kirill of Moscow and All Russia  says that "he prays most fervently together with archbishops, priests and the people of God, for the fullness of our Church, for the prevention of the bloodshed and for the salvation of our brothers that suffers so much in the land of Serbian Jerusalem."

Russian Patriarch is convinced that the long-term solution to the Kosovo problem can be found through peaceful means like dialogue, based on the norms of international law.

His Holiness Patriarch Maxim of Bulgaria sent a letter in which he states that " during years of our closest past we have never been indifferent to unfair relation taht Kosovo and Metohija had, the relation that has brought to the destruction of the centuries-old sacred places of the greatest significance for the Serbian Orthodox people, as well as for the Holy Orthodoxy in general, but also for the spiritual treasuries of European and global culture.''

Patriarch Maxim further in the letter quoting Apostle Paul's words says: "And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it (Corinth. 12,26), we along with priesthood and people, in this way want to express our sympathy, prayerfully begging for God's mercy and standing firmly in the faith that will eventually triumph, so that our joy may be complete (Jhn. 16, 24)."

His Beatitude Arcbishop Chrysostom II of Nova Justiniana and Cyprus says in the letter that "we deeply regret for the terrible devastation and  desecration of Orthodox churches and monasteries, recorded in this area by Albanian terrorists, because of the killing thousands of our brethren by the same, and the violent expulsion from their birth homes of other tens of thousands of our brothers.

Our pious people, which also bears the cross of martyrdom and injustice, because of the thirty-seven year continuous occupation of our Island, also suffers in these difficulties of the Serbian people and unanimosly partakes in its terrible temptations. And because of that the Most Holy Church of Cyprus strongly protests, demanding from the world's strongmen to grant justice to Orthodox Serbs of Kosovo and Metohija, " says Archbishop Chrysostom II.
