Hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Dechani Monastery
By arriving to Kosovo and Metohija Hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church confirm the firm commitment of our Church to preservation of Kosovo and Metohija with our faithful people and holy shrines.
A group of twenty-two bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church headed by Jovan, Archbishop John of Ohrid, and Metropolitans Amfilohije of Montenegro and Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia, after a visit of the Pec Patriarchate on 7 October 2019 when they celebrated the jubilee of the Serbian Church, was ceremoniously welcomed at the historic Dechani Monastery.
The hierarchs were greeted by the diocesan bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren with the abbot of Decani Monastery, Archimandrite Sava, and his brotherhood.
After the doxology read by Archbishop John of Ohrid and veneration of the relics of Holy King Stefan of Dechani, the hierarchs were served in the monastery archondarik (refectory), and participated in the vesper service whereupon a memorial service for the repose of souls of the blessed memory Bishop Victor of Skadar and Archimandrite Makarije of Dechani, who rest in the monastery cemetery, was performed.
Retired Bishop of Zaholm-Herzegovina Atanasije gave a lecture on the Sermon on the True Faith by Saint Sava in presence of all the hierarchs, members of the entourage and the monastic fraternity.
The following day, October 8th, 2019, the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy was celebrated in front of coffins and graves of Serbian Archbishops and Patriarchs, marking thereby several centuries of the history of our Autocephalous Church at the Pec Patriarchate, the historic center of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
