High guest from Anglican Church visits the Serbian Patriarchate

His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno received todat at the Court of the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade His Eminence Bishop of the Anglican Church for Europe the Rt Revd David Hamid.

His Grace Bishop Atanasije on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia, and on behalf of His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral welcomed the guest from England. Bishop David thanked and conveyed the greetings from Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams.

Bishop David is in his first formal visit to Serbia  and on this occasion he expressed a wish to learn more about the situation and the issues concerning  relations of two Churches, the issue of Kosovo and Metohija as well as the Church and the state.

Bishop David said that he certainly will inform the British public about the facts he learned here. From his point of view, all Christina Churches should raise their voices with a goal of securing human rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and preservation of the Serbian churches, monasteries and cultural and historical monuments.

His Grace Bishop Atanasije gave as a gift to the guest - the Memorandum of the SOC on Kosovo and Metohija, a monograph The March Pogrom 2004 and the book Ethnical cleansing and cultural genocide in Kosovo and Metohija.

Bishop David promised a full cooperation and help to the Serbian church and people.
