His Grace Bishop Irinej visits Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology

After  the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the St. Sava Cathedral parish in Cambridge, Boston, on Monday, December 11, 2017, His Grace Bishop Irinej visited one of the most prominent Orthodox institutions in the US - Holy Cross School of Theology in Brookline, MA.  His Grace was accompanied by Fr. Aleksandar Vlajkovic, a 1995 alumnus.

The school President, Very Rev. Fr. Christopher Metropulos along with the Dean of Holy Cross, Dr. James Skedros, welcomed His Grace Bishop Irinej. Serbian ThM student Srdjan Maksimovic gave His Grace a campus tour.  The chapel was visited where His Grace venerated the relics of several saints. They also visited a small cemetery overlooking Boston where Archbishop Iakovos is buried along with two other bishops.

While touring the campus, an unplanned and joyous encounter took place when Professor Emmanuel Clapsis met Bishop Irinej. The two old friends hadn't seen each other for years. Prof. Clapsis introduced His Grace to his students and invited him to address them.

Dr. Joachim Cotsonis, Library Director, welcomed Bishop Irinej to the Archbishop Iakovos Library which houses over 60,000 volumes on several floors. They spent an extended amount of time in the Museum in honor of the late Archbishop Iakovos located on the top floor of the Library. The objects displayed constitute the personal effects of His Eminence Archbishop Iakovos that reflect the 37 years (1959-1996) of his archpastoral ministry and leadership of the Greek Orthodox
Archdiocese of North and South America. Among other artifacts there was a cross of Patriarchate of Serbia awarded to Archbishop Iakovos.

It was a very pleasant and enriching visit. His Grace Bishop Irinej graciously thanked the hosts for a very warm reception.
