His Holiness Patriarch Kirill meets with Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič

On 31 March 2016, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia received the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič who is completing his diplomatic mission in the Russian Federation due to his appointment as Permanent Observer to the United Nations Office and Specialized Agencies in Geneva. The meeting took place at the Patriarchal and Synodal residence in St Daniel’s Monastery in Moscow.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church thanked Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič for many years’ cooperation, congratulated him on his new appointment and presented him with the Medal of Glory and Honour.

Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič was born in Slovenia in 1952. In the early 1990s he was a counsellor of the Representation of the Holy See to the Russian Federation. Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič served as Apostolic Nuncio in Belarus in 2001-2004 and in Ukraine in 2004-20011. He was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to the Russian Federation in February 2011.
