His Holiness Patriarch Kyrril of Moscow and All Russia visits Ukraine

His Holiness Patriarch Kyrril of Moscow and All Russia came on July 26, 2011 in an official visit to Ukraine. On Tuesday afternoon the Head of the Russian Orthodox Church met with the President of Ukraine Mr. V. F. Yanukovich in the presidential summer residence in Crimea. In the evening His Holiness arrive in Kiev.

Patriarch Kyrril was welcomed at the airport Borispol by His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine, Metropolitan  Agafangel of Odessa and Izmail, Metropolitan Ioannicius of Luhansk and Alchevsk ,Metropolitan Onuphrius of Czernowitz and Bukovina and other hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, as well as deputy prime minister, S.L. Tigipko.

In a brief conversation with the media representatives His Holiness spoke about the aims of the next pastoral visit to Ukraine.

His Holiness, accompanied by His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine visited the Church of the Holly Cross, where he venerated shrines and venerated the miraculous image of Our Lady of the Assumption.

Later, His Holiness went to the Synod Hall of the Kiev Metropolis, where the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church met with His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia.
