Holy Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos at the Monastery in Djunis

Serbian Vlachernon Monastery of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos in Djunis celebrated its Slava. This year too, the Most Holy Theotokos gathered thousands of pious souls who came from all Christian places to pray  for the Cover and  Protection of the Queen of Heaven.

Under an open sky with the prayerful service of the royal clergy, priests of the Diocese of Nis and other Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church, His Grace Kyr Jovan, Bishop of Nis served the solemn festal Vigil service. At the miraculous spring, according to the old custom, akathist to the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos was served. Bishop Jovan held a sermon before thousands of believers whose souls flickered before the sacred place of the Feast day.

The ceremony of this great Feast day was crowned with the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy in the morning hours at the Church of the Holy Protection presided by His Grace Kyr Jovan, Bishop of Nis. During the Holy Liturgy hierodeacon Stefan was ordained into the rank of presbyter by Bishop Jovan.

An agape meal was prepared by the sisterhood and its Abbess - The Venerable nun Marija.
