Icon of St Innocent of Irkutsk presented to Orthodox parish in Hong Kong
On 14 October 2013, the feast day of the Intercession of the Mother of God, an icon of St Innocent of Irkutsk, the heavenly patron of the Orthodox Church in China, was presented to the Orthodox parish of Ss Peter and Paul in Hong Kong with the blessing of Metropolitan Vadim of Irkutsk and Angarsk.
Archpriest Alexander Abiduyev, a cleric of the Irkutsk diocese, delivered the icon to Hong Kong and shared the celebration with the clergy and faithful of the Hong Kong parish.
St Innocent is the heavenly patron of the Orthodox Church in China. He was the first Orthodox bishop to be assigned to lead the Russian Mission in Beijing, and several churches in China have been consecrated in the name of St Innocent of Irkutsk.
