Inauguration of the church of the Entrance of the Theotokos in Madagascar
On 31st May 2015, the Sunday of Pentecost, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa officiated at Matins, performed the inauguration of the newly-built Holy Church of the Entrance of the Theotokos in the Andoharanofotsy area of Madagascar and then conducted the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy in the Church which was filled with the faithful, especially children holding the flags of Greece and Madagascar and following with interest the inauguration of the Church.
His Beatitude spoke with meaningful theological words to the congregation about the day of Pentecost and the Holy Spirit which establishes the institution of the Church, as well as about the whole service of the Inauguration and the significance of what was done there.
He blessed each one separately and thanked all who were present at the Hoy Sacrament to receive his blessing.
Present were His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Egypt to Madagascar, Mr. Cherif Abbas, as was the Representative of the Nuncio of the Catholic Church and the Representative of the Consulate of Greece in Antananarivo.
At the conclusion of the worship gathering His Beatitude attended the festive programme which had been prepared by the dance and music group of Antananarivo.
He then attended the lunch which was hosted in his honour by His Eminence Metropolitan Ignatios, present at which was the Chairman of the Hellenic Community of Madagascar, Mr. Nicholas Keramidas and the members of the community.
