International Meeting of Orthodox Youth 2019: Program

Over 2500 Orthodox young people from all across the world will gather this September in Romania’s southern city of Craiova for a four-day event aiming to foster the three cardinal Christian values of faith, hope and love.

Opening ceremony

The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday evening, Sept. 5, at Mihai Viteazul Square, where the coming delegations will present themselves and speeches will be held.

Surnamed the Patriarch of young people, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel is expected to attend the opening ceremony.

Conference

On Friday, Sept. 6, various workshops will be held for the ITO 2019 participants. The same day, the young people will benefit from a guided city tour and attend a conference held by Metropolitan Irineu titled ‘Unity in Spirit and Truth. Faith, Hope, Love’ at the Polyvalent Hall in Craiova.

Concert

On Saturday, Sept. 7, the program will include visiting Craiova’s public gardens and parks, attending workshops, visiting exhibitions. The day will conclude with a light music concert at Mihai Viteazul Square.

Divine Liturgy

The International Meeting of Orthodox Youth 2019 will end on Sunday, Sept. 8, following the Divine Liturgy celebrated at Maglavit Monastery.

ITO 2019

The sixth edition of the International Meeting of Orthodox Youth (ITO) will gather young people aged between 16 and 35 from Romania, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Greece, Serbia, Albania, the Republic of North Macedonia, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Great Britain, Switzerland, Turkey etc.

Former ITO editions took place in Baia Mare (2014), Cluj (2015), Bucharest (2016), Iasi (2017) and Sibiu (2018).
