Lenten Vespers in North Canton
With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irinej, on Sunday, March 2nd, clergy from the Cleveland Deanery gathered at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in North Canton for Lenten Vespers. The choir sang magnificently as those present joined the clergy in prayer and hymn.
Immediately following Vespers. the faithful gathered in the St. George Event Center. The Circle of Serbian Sisters offered a unique Lenten meal which featured food from both the Serbian tradition as well as Mediterranean fare.
Near the end of the meal, Rev. Presbyter Bosko Stojanovic, parish priest at Holy Trinity in Youngstown, offered a seminar on the theme “The Importance of Lent”. His presentation took the faithful on a journey through the Triodion, with a particular emphasis on fasting rules and how they apply today. In the discussion that followed, those present asked a number of questions about how fasting rules have been applied in various ways in the life of the church.
In addition to Fr. Bosko, clergy present included Rev. Presbyter Aleksa Pavichevich, host-priest from St. George in North Canton; Rev. Presbyter Dragan Goronjic, Dean of Cleveland and parish priest at Holy Trinity in Youngstown; Very Rev. Protopresbyter Milan Pajic from St. Archangel Michael in Akron; and Rev.
