On the Annunciation, the Serbian Orthodox Church commemorated the 40th anniversary of the death of St. Justin Popovich

The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy celebrated on April 7, 2019 at Ćelije Monastery, where St. Justin served for more than three decades, gathered a large number of faithful from different regions.
Bishops Milutin, Athanasius, Konstantine, and Jovan concelebrated, assisted by several priests and hieromonks. The choir of the nuns was led by Hegumena Glykeria.

A moleben was served near the shrine of the relics of holy father Justin. On this occasion, Bishop Athanasius (Jevtić) said,

“Holy Father Justin lived and blossomed in the spirit of the feast of the Annunciation, on which he came to this world and left it. He is the fifth evangelist, filled with evangelical faith, prayer, and love. By divine Providence, he was born as a Blagoje (from Blagovest, i.e. Annunciation) and ended as a Blagovestnik, that is to say the sharer of the Good News. At Ćelije, where the Annunciation was celebrated for centuries as the feast of the Mother of God, a new feast of the disciple of the Lord, Father Justin is also celebrated.
Recently, the third volume of Father Justin’s Dogmatics was published in Greek (Vatopedi publications). ‘I read and I live the good news, I live the Gospel’ said an Athonite hieromonk. Each of Father Justin’s words is good news. We who have been blessed to know him, we saw his prayers, his tears and his sighs, and here, you holy sisters you can see his miracles. The great miracle worker is at work as far as India, Slovakia, and America. He helps all those who come to him with faith. And miracles happen on his grave. Let us pray to God, let’s go to him and he will help us. As a Russian told me, Father Justin and Bishop Nicholas are a great gift of God to the Serbian people”.

Bishop Athanasius recalled the sufferings of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, and called on the faithful to pray for the Serbian nation, for its orphans and new martyrs today.

Man and the God-Man, a collection of essays by Father Justin Popovich, is available here
He also wrote a Commentary on the Epistles of St John the Theologian.
