Memorial rite at the grave of Serdar Janko Vukotic

On the occasion of the centenary of the Battle of Mojkovac (1916-2015), which had been  previously marked by two magnificent spiritual academies in Mojkovac and Belgrade, the memorial rite (panichida) was served on the grave of the famous General Janko Vukotic at the New cemetery in Belgrade on 18 January.

His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral and His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic served the memorial rite.

The event, besides grandson of the famous Army leader Janko Vukotic who also bears his name, was attended by representatives of some families and associations from Montenegro and Serbia. Following the memorial rite, His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic held an address about Serdar Janko Vukotic (b. 1866 at Cevo, died in Belgrade in 1927). At the beginning of the First World War he was commnader-in-chief of the Montenegrin Supreme Command, then Commander of the Herzegovina unit and the army of Sandzak, Adjutant General of King Nikola Petrovic of Montenegro and King Alexander Karadjordjevic of Yugoslavia).
